Only a few short years ago  there were only a handful of manufacturers  making scented candles. Scented candles as we know them  today are generally acknowledged to have originated from  the United States around the start of the Nineties, co-incidentally around the same time that  the first experiments were being made into using soy wax as a cheaper , more environmentally friendly wax for candlemaking  than paraffin wax.
