Introduce Some Colour To Your Decorative Theme This Holiday Season

To give your

home a really eye catching look this holiday season - and of course for the

rest of the year - introduce some bold, bright colours to your decor . Mix cranberry

red with neutral grey . The contrast of

the bold red and subtle slate is simple and striking . It makes for a very contemporary blend, so it is a good idea to

make sure any furnishings have a sleek modern look . Create a Christmas-style light fitting by hanging

baubles here and there on the ceiling, while you can easily decorate the dining

table or sideboard with a selection of jar candles or simply an elegant

candlestick or two . Bring a fanciful flourish to your

hall with a pretty painted silhoutte around the door  . Use a pale grey on the walls, but pick a deeper grey

for at least one piece of furniture to add deptn . What is the

best way to use berry shades to create a seasonal look ? Keep them as an

accent if you're going to play it safe and only accessorise with berry shades,

the obvious companions are grey and white . If you're feeling adventurous, other striking combinations

are cassis and navy or raspberry and aqua blue . Dot them

around the wall . Deeper

colours such as cassis and cranberry will give a cosy feel, while sharper tones

of magenta and raspberry will look crisp and contemporary, especially when

teamed with white. There are   plenty of different

accessories to be found in these colours, ranging from

simple items like cushions for the living room or bedroom, to

those perennial favourites   aromatic candles

, from quality brands like Yankee

candles
and True Grace

candles
There is an abundance of both colours and aromas available  . There's a big trend now for breaking old decorating rules

and clashing colour .

Where previously you would want to ensure that colours schemes worked with one

another , now

the trend is for the opposite. Clashing colours create an eye catching design

and is the new look for this season. Bold colours look best under bright

lights, so include plenty of task lighting in your scheme from floor and table

lamps to wall lights to iluminate an alcove .
