Give Your Home A Fresh New Look

 When it came to redecorating our home


we decided to try to take our time do things just the way we wanted, without


having to compromise . I choose a palette  of neutral shades that are used as a backdrop in every room  . I also


added white wooden shutters on all the windows at the front


of the house . When it came to the


furniture , I opted for an


eclectic selection of styles, ranging


from antique to contemporary .For example , in the kitchen, I have gone for modern high-gloss unit , but added


an antique dining table and industrial-style bar stools .





We put up a white tongue-and-groove shelving


unit above the kitchen table, where I display my collection of china, postcards


and star-shaped candleholders. With the renovation complete, we enjoyed


decorating our home for Christmas. We have three trees this year: one in the


kitchen, one in the drawing room and into a family home might be too daunting


for most buyers, but for us, it was a welcome challenge. We bought the house


five years ago, knowing that its top-heavy layout would need a rethink.  It had nine bedrooms, but I'm what you might


call a serial renovator, so I wasn't put off. In fact, when this house came on


the market, we'd only just finished revamping a 1960s bungalow that we'd bought


eight years ago. As an interior designer, I had a real appetite for


transforming dated houses into gorgeous homes, and couldn't resist the


opportunity to put my stamp on the house. The décor was acceptable, but just


not to my taste, so it was more the chance to adapt the structure to suit life


for us and our three children that appealed Along with custom-made pieces, it's what makes our


home unique. . The


finishing touches were the kind of things you would expect – plenty of photo


frames, lots of wall hangings and artwork


and plenty of our favourite accessories – scented candles.


There are so many to choose from but we love the ones made by Yankee candle. We


also sometimes use a reed diffuser, as a convenient alternative to candles.
